DA/BODYREST

Taking reference from headrests used by nomadic and pastoralist communities, DA/Body Rest reimagines the African headrest as a series of sculptures designed to hold the entire body above ground. Traditionally, African headrests converge art, design, and material culture serving as functional objects and symbols of status, identity, and spirituality. The work extends beyond the head, proposing a speculation on rest, displacement, and the intwined relationship between object, terrain, and the body.
